Who We Are

Who We Are

Living Grace Church has been a part of central Kansas for 150 years, beginning as Bethel Mennonite Church when Russian Mennonites came seeking religious freedom. From humble beginnings meeting in homes, our congregation built its first sod brick church, followed by two wooden frame buildings at our current site—both of which were lost to fire. Our current brick building was dedicated in 1954, with a major expansion added in 1987.

Over the years, Living Grace Church has grown and adapted to meet the needs of our community. From the start, Sunday School (1898) and Youth Groups (1954), have helped foster spiritual growth. Our Wednesday Nights program for children and youth, launched in 1976, continues to inspire the next generation through fun and engaging ways to learn about God’s Word.

Missions

Missions

Missions are at the heart of who we are. Our congregation has supported international missionaries, participated in short-term service projects in various locations including Guatemala, Mexico, Kenya, and Peru, and has invested in our local community through initiatives like the Food Pantry, Open Door, and Operation Christmas Child. In the past decade alone, thousands of shoeboxes have been packed and sent around the world, sharing hope and God’s love with children everywhere.

Music has always been a vibrant part of our worship, evolving from 4-part a cappella hymns to piano and organ accompaniment, and now to the blended, contemporary worship music that we use today.

In September 2025, we became Living Grace Church, building on 150 years of faith and community as we look ahead to the next chapter of what God is doing in and through us. As we look to the future, we do so with grateful hearts and a deep trust in God’s leading. We are committed to walking alongside one another in love, nurturing faith in every season of life, and extending Christ’s grace to our community and beyond. Rooted in prayer and shaped by God’s word, Living Grace Church seeks to be a welcoming home where lives are renewed, hope is restored, and God’s grace is lived out each day.
